Le mois de février derrière nous, mars qui arrive nous entrons dans la dernière période de l’hiver avec l’espoir de voir arriver un printemps chaud et hâtif pour pouvoir enfin rouler nos bolides qui sont au repos depuis déjà trop longtemps.

L’année 2020 s’annonce très occupée pour les membres de Rennsport. Les dates de nos Cours de Conduite Avancée, ont déjà été fixées et sont disponibles sur notre site web. L’inscription a commencé le 15 février et se fait sur le site de clubregistration.net. La Ground School (Séance d’introduction à la conduite avancée) Théorie sera donné au centre Prestige Porsche samedi 25 avril et commencera à 9h30. La date et le local pour le cours d’introduction d’Ottawa sont à déterminer. La formation pratique 2020 aura lieu au circuit ICAR le 10 mai. Le cours théorique n’exige pas d’inscription « officielle », il suffit de m’envoyer un courriel à president@rennsport.ca pour que nous puissions nous assurer d’avoir suffisamment des copies de documents à distribuer ainsi que suffisamment de café et de muffins. L’inscription au Ground School pratique se fera sur le site de clubregistration.net.

Il y aura aussi beaucoup d’évènements non liés à la piste cette année, donc le calendrier des activités de Rennsport sera bientôt très garni. Habituellement, les dates de bon nombre de nos évènements sociaux comme le lancement de la saison, les balades sont finalisées au cours des mois de février et mars. Les détails de nos évènements sociaux seront donc affichés à la fin mars. Nous sommes toujours à la recherche de bénévoles pour aider à organiser nos activités sociales. Nous sommes également à la recherche de membres qui aimeraient se joindre au conseil d’administration de Rennsport. Au cours des derniers mois, nous avons approché des membres lors de différents évènements du club, leur demandant s’ils aimeraient participer à la gestion du club. Nous sommes toujours à la recherche de nouveaux membres du conseil, alors si vous souhaitez vous joindre au conseil d’administration de Rennsport ou simplement demander plus d’information sur le conseil exécutif, veuillez communiquer avec le chef du comité des élections Andy Evangelidis à rennsport@videotron.ca ou moi-même à president@rennsport.ca avant le 20 mars 2020. Le candidat idéal au conseil d’administration serait un membre qui a été dans le club pendant plusieurs années, à aider à l’organisation d’un ou plusieurs évènements du club et aimerait se joindre au conseil d’administration pour aider à gérer le club.

Le conseil exécutif comprend jusqu’à onze membres de Rennsport. Il y a quatre officiers, six directeurs et lorsqu’il ou elle est disponible, un ancien président(e). Un officier a plus de responsabilités qu’un directeur, de sorte que les procédures électorales de Rennsport exigent que les dirigeants aient au moins deux ans d’expérience sur le conseil exécutif. Les deux années qu’il ou elle a passées au conseil d’administration lui permettre de mieux connaitre les multiples tâches à effectuer pour bien administrer et répondre aux besoins des membres. Les officiers actuels sont le président /Michael Delaney, vice-président / Bruno Bastien, trésorier / Robert Rouleau et secrétaire /Eric Gutknecht. Les directeurs et leurs responsabilités actuelles :

Même si nous quittons le conseil exécutif, Bob continuera d’occuper le poste de registraire des Cours de Conduite Avancée et je continuerai d’occuper le poste de Track Chair.

Un dernier point. Destination Porsche sera de retour au Circuit Mont Tremblant le 25,26 et 27 septembre. Si vous avez apprécié l’évènement de 2019 ou que, vous l’avez manqué, soyez certain d’ajouter la date à votre calendrier. La finale de la série Porsche GT/ Cup Challenge Canada y aura lieu ainsi qu’une foule d’autres activités. Plus de détails à venir.

As the month of February flies by we can finally start thinking about warmer weather and freeing our cars from their hibernation. 2020 is shaping up to be a busy year for Rennsport. Our Drivers’ Education event dates are set and are available on our website. Registration opened on 15 February and is done using clubregistration.net. The Ground School (Intro to Advanced Driving Techniques) Theory will be at Prestige Porsche Saturday 25 April and will start at 9:30. The Ottawa theory course date and location has not been finalized. The 2020 Ground School Practical will be at ICAR on 10 May. The theory class does not require an “official” registration. Just send me an email at president@rennsport.ca so we can be sure to have sufficient copies of any handouts as well as enough coffee and muffins. Registration for the practical Ground School will be done using clubregistration.net. More details will follow.

There will also be many non track events this year so the Rennsport activities calendar will be filling up soon. Typically the dates for many of our social events like the Season Kick Off, diving tours and coffee runs will be finalized during the month of February. Details for our non-driving and other driving related events will be posted in late March.

We are also looking for club members who would like to join the Rennsport board of directors. Over the last few months we have been approaching members during most club events, asking them if they would like to participate in the running of our club executive. We are always looking for new council members so if you would like to join the Rennsport board of directors or simply request more information about the executive council please contact the head of the elections committee Andy Evangelidis at rennsport@videotron.ca or me at president@rennsport.ca before 20 March 2020. The ideal board candidate would be a member that has been in the club for several years, has helped with the organization of a club event or events and would like join to the board of directors to help manage the club.

The executive council consists of up to eleven Rennsport members. There are four officers, six directors, and when available a past president. An officer has more responsibilities than a director thus the Rennsport elections procedures require that officers have at least two years of executive council experience. The two years that he/she been on the board will enable the prospective officer to have a greater awareness of the multitude of tasks that are required to govern our club and better fulfill the needs of the membership.

Back by popular demand! For all of the members that missed the original run of nametags we have decided to create another batch. These name tags are excellent was for members to identify themselve as well as the car that they drive. Should you want to order a name tag you can do so by contacting Bruno at vp@rennsport.ca

One last point. Destination Porsche will be back at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant 25.26.27 September. If you enjoyed last years event or you missed it mark your calendars. Destination Porsche will feature the final races of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada plus a host of other activities. More details to follow.
