Introduction to Driver Education<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

The main reason for owning a Porsche is to drive it, and what better way to drive it than in the company of fellow Porsche drivers!<\/span><\/p>\n

Rennsport offers a unique structure that allows members to improve their driving skills in controlled and safe environment with highly competent instructors. The basic principles are explained during theory sessions. We also offer many events to put in application the theory; they are the ground school, autocross or driving events. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>Theory Session<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s important that every driver understands the theory of driving. Furthermore any member who wants to participate in a DE for the first time should make it mandatory to attend this course. Also, the day will be split in two groups:<\/span><\/p>\n

The morning session will cover the basics of driving and the afternoon will be used to discuss advanced techniques and introduce Calabogie (The location, The track, The corners, How to drive it…). The afternoon session is highly recommended to anybody wanting to drive Calabogie.<\/span><\/p>\n

The objective is to cover the theory and provide a place where the driver can exchange their experiences. All the theory sessions are FREE.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>Practice session<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The practice session (Ground school) allows drivers to put in practice the principles learnt during the theory sessions. Drivers will practice their newly acquired skills through many basic exercises (emergency lane change, threshold braking, slalom) then will drive at low speed accompanied with an instructor to experiment the basic driving principles. <\/span><\/p>\n

The ground school is normally held on a road course circuit. <\/span><\/p>\n

Check the calendar for the upcoming groundschool dates.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This session starts at 8:00 with the exercise and the afternoon is reserved for on track driving (with instructors) at low speed. No special preparation (no helmet, no fire extinguisher) is required and you can come with any vehicle. The lunch is supplied.
\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s highly recommended for all novices to follow the theory session provided
\nin Montreal or Ottawa before coming to the Ground school! <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To get the most from the Theory and Practice sessions we strongly recommend that your read the Student Manual that can be found in the menu above. To read this manual you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span>Introduction to Driver Education (DE)
\n<\/a><\/span><\/strong>In many members\u2019 minds, the most enjoyable events in the club are driver education events. These events offer members a great opportunity to learn more about their driving and the physics of car behaviour in the relatively safe environment of a closed road course. <\/span><\/h1>\n

Experienced club instructors emphasize skill development and practice, while maintaining a high level of safety and self-control. Each year the region offers a number of events that take place on the famous Le Circuit<\/a> at Mont-Tremblant north of Montreal, Calabogie Motorsport, St-Eustache, Sanair and ICAR racetracks. Although these are racetracks, these events are not about racing or speed for the sake of speed. They are about having fun and improving your driving skills in a safe, closed environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Members who plan on coming out to a driving event are strongly encouraged to attend one of our free driving theory sessions held in the early spring in Montreal, Quebec, and Ottawa. (Preference will be given to members who attend theory and practice sessions ground school.)<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’re a new member and just want to see what all the fun is about, but you’re not quite sure about the whole idea, novice schools are also held at the end of the event first day (if time is permitting). These schools do not put your car on the track, but give you some principles from the longer ground school (above) with an introductory ride in an instructor’s car to demonstrate the principles. This is a great way to experience the track and the company of fellow Porsche drivers.
\n<\/strong><\/span>
\n Rennsport is by no means the only region in PCA that offers driver education sessions. Indeed, many members visit other regions and partake at their events, particularly those held at the nearby venues of Mosport and Watkins Glen. (The Zone 1 48 Hours of Watkins Glen).<\/span><\/p>\n

In return, many PCA members from other regions come to Mont-Tremblant. Last year saw many events sold out well before the closing date, so please register early to avoid disappointment.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span>Registration Procedure<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Rennsport will use www.Clubregistration.net<\/a>, like most of PCA.  If you have signed up for events at Watkin\u2019s Glen you\u2019ll know about it, in fact if you registered for events with CVR or NER at Le Circuit you had no choice but to use it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clubregistration.net is an online automated system which lets you find and register for events in almost all the regions of PCA.  Once you have created an account and filled in your information registering for an event with Rennsport or another PCA region takes only a few seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s an idea of how it works :<\/span><\/p>\n

1.    Using your browser, go to www.Clubregistration.net<\/a><\/span>
\n2.    If this is your first time, you\u2019ll need to create an account. Simply pick a user-name and a password. Push the \u201ccreate\u201d button.  If the name is already in use, you\u2019ll be told, and you can try another one.<\/span>
\n3.    Then, you need to create your profile. Click on the Edit Profile button. You\u2019ll see a number of options. Fill in your Personal Info. That\u2019s your name, phone number, email and so on.  Then your car info, driving experience (resume) emergency contacts etc. Be sure to fill in your car number used for DE. If you are a new comer and don\u2019t have a number, one will be assigned to you.<\/span>
\n4.    Now you\u2019re ready to register ! Use the \u201cSearch for events\u201d button and pick Rennsport from the list of clubs\/organizations. You will see details on all our events. Signing up is a simple as selecting an event and pressing a few buttons.<\/span>
\n5.    Note the dates of the event and the closing date \u2013 that\u2019s the last day you can register for the event.  You can sign up for any event that\u2019s open and your account will be charged only about 5 weeks before the event itself.   This is a good way to reserve a place at future events.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, registration for any event will open roughly 60 days before the event.
\nOnce you have received your confirmation, there will be no reimbursement if you have to cancel.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It pays to register early since last season several events at Le Circuit sold out rather quickly. <\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ll notice that when you register, you won\u2019t be able to pay for the event(s). Don\u2019t panic! Around five weeks before the event, you\u2019ll receive an email asking you to go back to Clubregistration and pay for the event. At that time you\u2019ll see the option and you\u2019ll be able to pay with a credit card.  All charges are in Canadian dollars.<\/span><\/p>\n

      5. Une barre de roulement pour Cabriolets est n\u00e9cessaire, sauf Boxster, 996 et 997 ou les Cabriolets plus r\u00e9cents; ils peuvent fonctionner comme exp\u00e9di\u00e9s par l\u2019usine. Tous les toits ouvrants doivent \u00eatre ferm\u00e9s et les panneaux des toits en T doivent \u00eatre en place.<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Des pantalons longs et des chaussures \u00e0 lacets sont n\u00e9cessaires. \u00c9vitez les mati\u00e8res synth\u00e9tiques. Des v\u00eatements 100 % coton et\/ou \u00ab Nomex \u00bb sont recommand\u00e9s.<\/span><\/li>\n
      7. Un syst\u00e8me de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 similaire (si\u00e8ges, harnais, barre de roulement, installation…) doit \u00eatre disponible pour le conducteur et le passager.<\/span><\/li>\n
      8. Seul un instructeur ou son \u00e9l\u00e8ve peut \u00eatre passager dans une voiture. Les participants doivent \u00eatre \u00e2g\u00e9s de 18 ans ou plus et avoir un permis de conduire valide.<\/span><\/li>\n
      9. Les participants peuvent avoir une affectation de travail pendant chaque \u00e9v\u00e9nement. Tout participant qui est en retard ou qui ne r\u00e9alise pas son travail sera p\u00e9nalis\u00e9.<\/span><\/li>\n
      10. La consommation de drogues est strictement interdite. Aucun alcool n\u2019est ouvert sur le site avant 17 h. Ne consommez pas d\u2019alcool au d\u00e9jeuner si vous \u00eates \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur.<\/span><\/li>\n
      11. Rennsport se r\u00e9serve le droit de refuser l\u2019inscription \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement et d\u2019expulser tout participant pendant l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement sans motif.<\/span><\/li>\n
      12. L\u2019inscription prend fin sept jours civils avant l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/span><\/li>\n

      15. Les participants doivent v\u00e9rifier aupr\u00e8s de leur compagnie d\u2019assurance automobile la couverture pendant une DE.<\/span><\/li>\n
      16. Les participants conviennent d\u2019utiliser les photos, les images et les s\u00e9quences vid\u00e9o prises sur la piste de fa\u00e7on responsable et conform\u00e9ment aux lois locales, provinciales et f\u00e9d\u00e9rales sur la protection des renseignements personnels. Les renseignements personnels contenus dans toutes les images et tous les enregistrements DOIVENT \u00eatre supprim\u00e9s avant toute publication sur les plateformes de m\u00e9dias sociaux. Toutes les images et tous les enregistrements sont destin\u00e9s UNIQUEMENT \u00e0 un usage personnel et ne peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 des fins commerciales directes ou indirectes. Les photos, images et vid\u00e9os d\u2019un accident sont STRICTEMENT INTERDITES et NE PEUVENT PAS \u00eatre affich\u00e9es sur les m\u00e9dias sociaux. Le participant \u00e0 ces postes est tenu de payer \u00e0 Le Circuit les montants des dommages-int\u00e9r\u00eats d\u00e9termin\u00e9s tels que d\u00e9finis dans le contrat entre Rennsport et Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant.<\/span><\/li>\n
      17. L\u2019utilisation d\u2019UAV (aussi connu sous le nom de drones) \u00e0 la piste, les autres installations, et n\u2019importe o\u00f9 sur la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de la piste est STRICTEMENT INTERDITE. Toute personne qui refuse de suspendre l\u2019utilisation d\u2019un UAV peut \u00eatre expuls\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement \u00e0 la seule discr\u00e9tion des organisateurs de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement. L\u2019exploitant d\u2019UAV est tenu responsable de tous les dommages caus\u00e9s directement ou indirectement par l\u2019utilisation d\u2019un UAV.<\/span><\/li>\n
      18. En pr\u00e9sentant votre inscription, vous attestez que vous avez un permis de conduire valide et qu\u2019il n\u2019y a aucun probl\u00e8me physique ou mental, ce qui pourrait vous mettre en danger ou mettre d\u2019autres personnes en participant \u00e0 ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements.<\/span><\/li>\n
      19. Tremblant a adopt\u00e9 une limite de bruit qui ne doit pas d\u00e9passer 92 dB sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la voie \u00e0 50 pieds. Il est de la responsabilit\u00e9 du conducteur de se conformer \u00e0 la restriction et toute voiture jug\u00e9e d\u00e9passer la limite peut ne pas \u00eatre autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 participer. Il n\u2019y a pas de remboursement si une voiture est exclue pour des restrictions de bruit excessives.<\/span><\/li>\n
      20. Les conducteurs sont financi\u00e8rement responsables de tous les dommages au circuit qu\u2019ils causent. Rennsport sera factur\u00e9 par la direction du circuit. Les conducteurs acceptent de rembourser Rennsport pour les dommages subis \u00e0 la piste au plus tard 60 jours apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9mission d\u2019une facture de dommages.<\/span><\/li>\n
      21. Les conducteurs sont responsables de s\u2019assurer que les fen\u00eatres de leur v\u00e9hicule peuvent \u00eatre ouvertes pour permettre le point en passant. Aucun remboursement dans le cas o\u00f9 un v\u00e9hicule ne r\u00e9pond pas \u00e0 cette exigence.<\/span><\/li>\n
      22. Les conducteurs doivent \u00eatre en mesure de d\u00e9sactiver les dispositifs de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 actifs comme les avertissements de changement de voie et les syst\u00e8mes de freinage d\u2019urgence.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Technical Inspection Form<\/strong>
        \nYou must have your car inspected by an apposed garage. You will find the form and the Rennsport authorized inspectors in the menu above<\/span><\/p>\n

        Registration package<\/strong>
        \nYou will receive this package from the registrar when you are accepted. It contains all pertinent information for your attendance to the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Hotels \u2013 Tremblant<\/strong>
        \nStation Mont-Tremblant usually offers group pricing for members who want to stay around for DE events. See hotels info in the menu above.

        The rates are valid for the allocated period of the package. Tremblant is extending the same rates for member who wants to extend their stay before or after the event. <\/span><\/p>\n

        Rates are quoted by unit, not by person. The group of room is held up to 30 days before each event, after this period, there could be an availability problem.<\/span><\/p>\n

        We recommend early reservation. Reservation, cancellation and deposit policies are included with the reservation forms.<\/span><\/p>\n

        The reserved hotel this year is La Tour des Voyageurs, which is air-conditioned, and offers indoor parking and a pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
