Summer Solstice Coffee Run

Description

For the Summer Solstice, we will drive down to the Charleston Lake area and enjoy lunch at the Rapid Valley Dinner, just South of Lansdowne. We will meet at The Tim Hortons by the Barrhaven Costco (4295 Strandherd Dr.) at 8:30 am with departure at 9 am sharp. From here we will drive for 1 hour before a bio break at The Station Country Kitchen & Eatery in Smiths Falls (50 Lorne St Unit 1, Smiths Falls). The next leg is about 1 hr 35 minutes and takes us through Athens and around Charleston Lake, and on to our lunch destination. We will have reserved parking at the restaurant. Tickets are on sale with a choice of menu items for $26 all inclusive. Please choose one of the following meals for each person.

1. Vegetarian pizza
2. Pepperoni pizza
3. Fish n’ chips
4. Chicken Caesar wrap (with fries)
5. Cheeseburger (with fries)
6. Greek salad (meal size)

Summer Solstice Coffee Run Details – June 21, 2025 *** PLEASE READ CAREFULLY *** 

Join us for the June 21 Summer Solstice coffee run! Those wishing to have lunch at the Rapid Valley must buy their tickets ahead of time through this website. Other members are welcome to join the runs, but will make their way home when we reach the restaurant. 

Meeting location and timing (led by Karin Frederking and Wendy DeWolfe)

• Meeting time and location: 8:30 a.m. Tim Horton’s, near the Barrhaven Costco, 4295 Strandherd Dr., Nepean K2J 5P8.
• Drivers’ meeting and departure: the mandatory Drivers’ meeting is at 8:45 a.m., followed immediately by the departure and start of the Run at 9:00 a.m.

Waivers

One legal waiver is required to be signed, plus a second one if a minor will participate:

1. The standard waiver (“Release and Waiver of Liability …”) must be signed in person at every event by the driver and all passengers. You are encouraged to read it before attending the event. You can find it on the Rennsport website under “Waivers/PCA Waiver” or at this link (you must be logged in): “Entente de renonciation”
2. If you are bringing a minor (17 years of age and under), at least one parent must be present at the event to sign the waiver, witnessed by the event organizer. The parent must be present, even if the minor will be a passenger in a car driven by someone else.  

Please print the “Minor as Observer” waiver in colour and bring it to the event, to be signed in person by the parent and witnessed by the organizer. General Coffee Run Safety Rules

• No passing each other: participants are not allowed to pass other participants in the Coffee Run, (although we can pass other slower cars who are not in our group);
• Wait for the car behind you when you turn: if the car behind you has fallen out of sight and the route turns onto another road, wait prior to the turn so the next car can see that they should turn too.
• Drive your own drive: don’t drive faster than you are comfortable. It’s not 
• a race – the car in front of you will wait at the next turn so that you don’t get lost.

The event will take place “rain or shine”. Please remember to gas up before you arrive. 

Volunteers: We can always use extra help! We will need to have one “sweeper” car at the back of the pack, and likely one or two “centre” cars depending on how many cars participate. We also need help with managing the signature and collection of waivers, as well as for someone to be the “Observer” and fill out a brief report to file with PCA after the event.
