2021 DE season information

Rennsport is pleased to announce that our 2021 DE season will include a limited number of beginner students (Green Run Group). Due to COVID restrictions and PCA Standards we cannot do in car instruction, so until these restrictions end we will be offering Lead and Follow training for the green run group in our DE program.

For safety reasons and track imposed limitations on the number of cars on track, we will run a maximum of 11 green students per event.

The PCA Lead Follow teaching technique requires students to undergo specific training. These techniques will be explained during the Ground School theory session and practiced during the Ground School Practical day. To ensure efficient and safe events we will be giving preference to individuals who have taken the Rennsport <Ground School Theory> session and the <Ground School Practical session>.

The <Ground School Theory> session will be a free Zoom session.  The dates for the session will be confirmed on our FaceBook pages and website shortly, so please look for posts for this event and follow the instructions to sign up. We are anticipating the last week of April or first week of May.

The <Ground School Practical> session will be held at ICAR on May 15th.  The cost will be $200 per participant which includes a full day at the track and lunch. Please register for the event at www.clubregistration.net

Students who have participated in both Ground Schools will be given preference when registering for the Green run group.

We look forward to an exciting 2021 season and meeting all Green run group students.

Approved helmets for the 2021 DE season

PCA and most driving clubs, recommend the use of current SNELL SA rated Helmets or their equivalent BSI and SFI counterparts. SNELL certifications are for a ten-year period. SNELL certified 2020 helmets are now available at retail outlets. Therefore SNELL SA and SM 2010 helmets will no longer be accepted at Rennsport events.  This rule is applicable to all PCA regional driving events.

As of 2021, ONLY SNELL and 2015-2020 or their equivalent BSI and SFI certified helmets will be permitted.

For the Rennsport 2021 DE season, each driver participating in the Drivers Education program must wear a helmet meeting the following Safety Helmet Standards:

  1. SNELL Foundation Helmets rated: SA2015 or SA2020 (recommended)
  2. Equivalent British Standards Institute (BSI): BS6658-85 type A/FR
  3. Equivalent SFI Foundation Inc. Helmets rated: SFI 31.1A

At the first event attended in the 2021 season, and all subsequent events, you are requested to bring your Helmet to the Tech Line for inspection.  A Sticker will be affixed to indicate your helmet meets requirements for 2020 and future DE events.

Please do not hesitate contacting us if you have further questions at DrivingEvents@Rennsport.ca

Updated DE Safety rules

Hello fellow Rennsport track addicts

PCA has updated the DE safety rules effective January 1, 2019. The specific rule change only affects DE participants that use harnesses during DE sessions. Starting January 1, 2019 DE participants using multi-point harness systems will be required to utilize a head and neck restraint (HNR) system, commonly referred to as a HANS device. The HNR must meet the standards of either SFI 38.1 or FIA 8858. This rule applies to all PCA Regional DE’s.
